It's away!
Nov. 2nd, 2004 09:45 amThis morning, I got up at 5 am. Since I couldn't fall back asleep, I pulled out my non-partisan voter guides, and decided which judges I should vote for. (Yes, in Ohio, we vote for judges. And county engineer and county coroner too.) I had already decided everythig else -- US senator, US congressional rep, state senator, state representative. So I wrote my choices on a cheat sheet.
After dropping off The Girl at her daycare, I went to my polling place -- the commons building at a local senior citizen complex. There was a person from MoveOn PAC there, but she was relatively quiet and stayed outside the 100' boundary.
The line for my precinct was relatively short. I think I was in and out in about 10 minutes. As I cast my votes, I muttered things while I pressed the 2" stylus into the punch card. "George W.: You're fired!" (Punched the hole to vote for Kerry.) "Citizens for Community Values: Bite me!" (Punched the hole to vote No on Issue 1.) Many races like engineer and coroner were uncontested, so I just punched away.
Now it's off to Cincinnati to see what I'm doing there this afternoon.
