Updates to original post.

Wed 11/24: Slept in in the morning. Received an update on the position in Mason. Had a call from a recruiter in Columbus.

Went food shopping and errand-running. One stop was Trader Joe's to pick up some wine. Ended up with 6 bottles (including some nice, inexpensive Charles Shaw wines) and other groceries. (Here in Ohio, "Two-Buck Chuck" is more like $3.50.) Also rediscovered DiSalvo's Deli, which doubled its size and added tables since I was last there. Had a great sandwich for lunch there. Went home and cleared the dining room table and dining area. Fired up the roaster -- a 1940's vintage Proctor Roast-or-Grille that my parents gave me -- to ensure that it still worked. (It's so old that the owner's manual doesn't list a ZIP code.)

Thu 11/25: Was up early with The Girl. Had a bialy for breakfast. (This past Sunday, The Wife and I found that there is a Block's Bagels a few blocks away from where her aunt lives in eastern Columbus. So we got a dozen bagels, and the one bialy for me.)

Began cooking at noon. The Wife went to take The Girl out on her afternoon nap/drive. Put on the sountrack to "The Wedding Singer" vol. 2 on the CD player. (This CD rocks! Once I return it back to the library, I should get myself a copy. The danceability rating is high.) At 2 pm, I started preparing the 3 lb turkey breast, using the tried-and-true "Scarborough Fair" recipe -- if you know the lyrics, you know the recipe -- and placed it in the roaster. (The Wife told me that the ingredients were part of a binding spell.) And while it was cooking, I opened up the can of whole-berry cranberry sauce -- I love the sound it makes when it slides out of the can! -- and mixed it up with a small can of mandarin oranges and juice. Stuffing was Stove Top with a can of chicken broth instead of water.

The final menu: Sweet Potato Casserole with Marshmallow Clouds, Roast Turkey Breast, Cranberry Sauce with Mandarin Oranges, Stuffing, Salad, crescent rolls, and Charles Shaw Chardonnay.

That night, we went to our friends Andrea & Steve's for dessert and conversation. We brought store-bought apple and pumpkin pies. They had chocolate chip cookies and almond pound cake. Steve shared me some of his findings on somethingawful.com. Their "Photoshop Phriday" is a riot! Their dog Bella shared kisses with all of us. We went home and crashed relatively early.
