Snowbound no more!
Dec. 26th, 2004 01:54 amContinued from previous post.
In the early afternoon, I went outside and shoveled out the station wagon. There was lots of snow with a crusty layer of ice on top. Oddly enough, the only window that was covered was the front the sides and the back were free of ice. Of course, I had to dig out the surrounding snow. But I managed. Meanehile, the sedan is still snowed in. I won't worry about it until tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday.
I've also been nursing a small burn on the back of my right hand, which I managed to do when I took out last night's lasagna. The back of my hand brushed against the broiler element. Ouch! Refrigerated aloe vera gel (such as Panama Jack Green Ice) applied as necessary does a great job.
I also gave the cats their holiday present: catnip. Mercury got a little too excited and clawed her way into my right hand. Double owie! She also took a swipe at The Girl. Bad old puddy tat!
Since our afternoon dinner plans got cancelled, and we didn't have the fixings for another dish, I suggested take-out Chinese, and remembered the Boston LJ contingent who were doing the same thing. I got in the car, drove my way out of the parking lot -- I was surprised that the roads were as passable as they were -- and passed by 4 Chinese restaurants -- 3 of which were my favorites -- before I found 2 that were open. In the meantime, I stopped in at a BP and got milk and Pepsi.
I also spent time on the phone with
After dinner, we called my sister, my parents, and out-of-town friends Bill and Darleen to thank them for the gifts they sent us. And then, after The Girl (finally) fell alseep, R opened up the Return of the King deluxe DVD set....and watched the movie. The extra scenes really enhance the movie.
And after this entry is done, I'm checking voice mail and heading to bed. G'night.
