So, how'd I do?
Dec. 31st, 2004 08:08 pmIt's that time again....time to revisit last year's resolutions, report progress (if any) and set some new goals.
Here were my resolutions for 2004 (which I've recapped below).
* Donate 1% of my net income to worthwhile charitable organizations
This didn't happen, mostly because of the job situation....or lack of one.
* Get control of my bill-paying and financial record-keeping
This also didn't happen, mostly because of the job situation....or lack of one. I don't think I got any better; in fact, I think I got worse.
* Bring my lunch to work at least 1 or two times a week
This sort of happened, mostly because of the job situation....or lack of one. I still go out for my Skyline Chili, chicken wings, and Jersey Mike's fixes occasionally. But I did succeed in starting to eat the food in my freezer and pantry.
* Go through and discard financial records over 5 years old
Uh...no. Hasn't happened yet.
* Keep the house clean and free of clutter
Nope. Didn't happen. Maybe this is something that will never get done, like Gaudi's cathedral in Barcelona, Spain. That building has a construction timetable running hundreds of years!
As I said last year, I don't make resolutions; I set goals. If I don't make the goal, I just carry it over to the following year. It sounds like a cop-out, but that's how life works sometimes.
And now, the predictions I made in '04.
1) Michael Jackson will be found guilty of child molestation charges, and will be killed in prison via a fight with other inmates.
Nope. Either the trial hasn't started, or it's in progress.
2) Ronald Reagan will pass away.
Correct. I knew it was a matter of time. :-(
3) The Bush administration will announce that Osama bin Laden has been captured and killed.........in the last week of October, one week before the elections.
Nope. But Bush won anyway. :-(
4) Pope John Paul II will survive one more year. No black smoke or white smoke until 2005.
Correct for the first part. Will carry over the rest to the 2005 predictions.
5) Peter Jackson will win the Oscar for Best Director this year. 5a) ROTK will be nominated, but will not win.
Yes and no. ROTK won all 11 Oscars it was nominated for, including best director and best picture.
6) Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez will get married after all.
Bzzt!! Wrong, but thank you for plaing.
And if you missed any of my posts this year, here's the calendar view of all of the LJ entries I made in '04.
[Added 22:55 12/31]: The Wife, The Girl, and I will be spending a quiet New Year's Eve together at home (and a quiet New Years' Day at home as well, dismantling the tree.) Yeah, it's a bit lonely not spending it with friends, but at least we'll be off the roads this evening. And I'd rather be at home than at Times Square.
