The taxes are done! With time to spare!

poltr1This evening, about an hour ago, I finished my taxes for 2004 and e-filed them. The good news: I'm getting a fair chunk of change from Uncle Sam. The bad news: I gotta give a little bit of that money to Uncle Bob (Taft) and pay more state tax. Ugh. Taft and spend, Taft and spend. Yecch. :-P
Lessons learned for this year: Improve record management for medical expenses. Even though I think I'm good at keeping my medical expense records, I need to do a better job keeping R's records, or encourage her to be doing so. We don't have one big envelope (or envelope box) for all our medical reciepts, payments, statements, billls, EOBs (Explanation of Benefits), etc. It's scattered in several piles. Having everything in one place, and not in several places, will reduce the time spent hunting down this information, and would reduce the risk of something getting missed or misplaced.
