I believed that married people need only sleep together to conceive a child. I thought that if you weren't married, you had to have sexual intercourse. I got confused when my mother tried to explain to me how our family friend got pregnant without being married. I was 8 years old.
I believed that my mother's framed picture of the Sacred Heart was watching me, even when I was 18 and making out with my boyfriend on the sofa.
My mother said she believed nuns didn't use the bathroom.
