This afternoon.......
Oct. 21st, 2005 04:26 pmCold and rainy today. Yecch. A wonderful day to sleep in.
But there is a bright point. I found a nice Lebanese restaurant by the Dayton Mall called "Taste of the Mediterranean". I had taboule, kafta kebabs, and a Lebanese coffee. For a few minutes I forgot all about the cold and the rain.
And another sad point. Shiro Japanese Reaurant is no more. It's been replaced by a Thai restaurant.
Days like today are wonderful for soups or meal-sized bowls of noodles. What do you like to eat when the day is cold and rainy or overcast?

Strangely, I'm not as interested in a similar Japanese style rice porridge called okayu.

Date: 2005-10-23 12:02 am (UTC)One of my favorites is nabeyaki udon, which is simply wonderful on a cold evening. At one of the local Japanese restaurants, they add some type of mushroom which gives it an earthy feel and taste. And they serve it in a stoneware bowl.
Another favorite is hu tieu, which I can find at most Vietnamese restaurants.
