Cold and rainy today. Yecch. A wonderful day to sleep in.

But there is a bright point. I found a nice Lebanese restaurant by the Dayton Mall called "Taste of the Mediterranean". I had taboule, kafta kebabs, and a Lebanese coffee. For a few minutes I forgot all about the cold and the rain.

And another sad point. Shiro Japanese Reaurant is no more. It's been replaced by a Thai restaurant.

Days like today are wonderful for soups or meal-sized bowls of noodles. What do you like to eat when the day is cold and rainy or overcast?

Soups/noodle bowls as you mentioned, especially Asian like Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese. Also Chinese rice porridge, for which there was a good article in last week's San Francisco Chronicle:

Strangely, I'm not as interested in a similar Japanese style rice porridge called okayu.
