OVFF 21 con report.....
Oct. 24th, 2005 01:21 amFor the non-filkers out there,
mariasmom and I made my annual trek to Ohio Valley Filk Fest (OVFF) 21, in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend.
We left the con at around 2pm Sunday. (It's M nap time.) We arrived home about 5:30, taking the long way home (M conked out in the car). Was tired myself, so I crashed early (9 pm).
Most of the con was spent wrangling the Daughter, so I missed a lot of the concerts, workshops and panels. Here's what I saw and remember:
- Having insomnia at 5 AM on Saturday morning and walking laps inside the hotel
- Working with
peteralway on his song "Polystyrene Shipwright"
- The jam workshop with
min0taur (I brought the Moog to that one)
- Giving a 12-pack of DCVDP (Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper) to
cadhla (and hearing and watching her Squee! with delight)
- The Saturday night filk circle in room 157 (got to sing and play my woodwinds at that one, despite having too many flubbed notes)
- Seeing lots of my LJ-friends in person. (Too numerous to mention by name)
- Seeing Joe and Terry Ellis again, after a long absence
- Taking M swimming in the pool (twice)
- The yummy breakfasts (even if the omelets were extra)
- A TV in the room which greatly facilitated the hookup of a DVD player -- jacks in front and a "Camport" channel/setting
- Listening to lots of "Beethoven for Little Ears" in the room (it's on my copy of the "Baby Shakespeare" DVD)
As always, there wasn't enough time to schmooze with folks. (I guess that is what LJ is for. :) )
New LJ-friends, now that I've (finally) met them in person:
almeda,
peteralway,
catalana,
andpuff.
I miss you guys already. Looking forward to the next con. And I'm thinking about presenting a workshop or session on synthesizers. And leaving the woodwinds behind, since they're geared toward more ensemble playing than solo playing.
