On Wednesday night, I bought 3 books of stamps to replace the ones that went MIA on me. (See previous LJ entry.) That enabled me to finish the job of sending out the cards.

What makes things a lot easier is printing out the address labels on the laser printer, in stead of doing them by hand. The only handwriting I do now is the signing of the cards and annual letters. I still lick the envelopes manually, though -- I don't use a moistened sponge to do it for me.

The first batch of cards was mailed out Friday morning; the second batch went out Saturday afternoon. Of course, the missing stamps reappeared Saturday night. I had them in a drawer with my rolled (and unrolled) coins. Once again, I find things when I'm not looking for them.

There are at least a dozen folks on my list that, for whatever reason, I don't have curernt snail-mail (i.e. US Postal Service) addresses; all I have for them are email addresses. A part of me bristles at the idea of sending holiday cards by email. It just seems tacky and insincere to send an email greeting. A handwritten letter or card is more satisfying and permanent. So, if you're reading this and didn't get a card from me, I apologize, and please verify that I have your current snail-mail address.

Coming up next: My trip to Clifton Milll, and putting up the tree.

And I know I can't escape them, I don't know how to begin

D'oh! and I completely forgot to email that address to you. But that's ok, I don't have your address either :P So, how about this deal? We swap snails, and then mail each other New Year's Day cards instead? Wonder if Hallmark makes those? -H...
