Rounds 1 and 2 of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament are done. There were 64 teams at the beginning. After 32 first-round and 16 second-round games, there are now only 16 teams left. The Sweet 16, which will be pared down to the Elite 8, which will be pared down to the Final Four.

So how did my local teams fare?

UD (University of Dayton) Flyers: Lost in the first round to Tulsa.

UC (University of Cincinnati) Bearcats: Lost in the first round to Gonzaga. Gonzaga! That sounds like something you yell when jumping off a high building or a cliff. This tiny Jesuit school in Washington State has been playing the role of "spoiler" for the past few years, beating higher-seeded teams. If there's a case for having NCAA Division I sports at a university, this is it: Name recognition.

XU (Xavier University) Musketeers: Beat Troy State. Lost in the second round to Maryland (last year's champion).

IU (Indiana University) Hoosiers: Beat Alabama. Lost in the second round to Pitt. But no chairs were thrown.

UK (University of Kentucky) Wildcats: Beat IUPUI (Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis). Beat Utah. Still in the game.

I also noticed that CBS Sportsline calls it "March Mayhem" and not "March Madness". Guess they caved in to pressure from the mental health advocacy groups.

These days, sports announcer Dick Vitale is everywhere, hawking everything from cars to ....Vitalis? He's best known for his catch phrase, "[It's] Awesome, Baby!" I'm sure if I looked hard enough, I could get a sound bit of him saying that often-used phrase.
