A few days ago, I asked a question about screensaver passwords in KDE.
The short answer: I wasn't using the right password.
Soon after
bikergeek mentioned Ctrl-Alt-F1 to shell out of the screensaver, I tried it to log in to my regular-user account, and none of the passwords I was using seemed to work. (Cue the lightbulb.) So I logged in as root, ran passwd on my regular-user account (after checking the man page), rebooted, logged in as regular-user, and tried it out. It's working now, now that I have the right password. Thanks!
This is why I'd like a KDE tutorial in book form. The docs at
docs.kde.org are OK, but it's nice to have a hardcopy manual to leaf through, instead of hunting and punting. Is there a summary of all the keyboard shortcuts somewhere?
Now if I can only figure out how to get rid of the rust-lime stain at the bottom of my toilet bowl......
