I've been seeing a fair amount of what I call The 'independent' cross on clothing. Some say it's from a truck company. But it sure looks like a Klan symbol to me. Or am I way off base on this?

That's the Knight's Templar cross. Not Klan related at all. :-)

Also the trademarked logo of West Coast Choppers, a high end Harley dealership.

I agree it's a symbol that pre-dates the clan by a great many centuries. If the clan is using it than just like the Nazi's did with the Iron Cross they are perverting an ancient and honorable symbol and should be ashamed of themselves.

Personally, though I'm sure I'll get sick of seeing it sooner or later, I'ld rather look at that cross on peoples clothes than see Tommy Hilfinger's name or Old Navy written every where.

The trademark is that of the Independent Truck Company. They make skateboard trucks (axle assemblies) and have since the late seventies. I used them back in the day of my skating youth.
