A couple days ago, I wrote about searching for a phone battery. That night, I found one at Meijer. (Let's hear it for open 24x7 supermarkets/big-box stores!) It wasn't exactly the right size -- the replacement battery was slightly smaller -- but it fit.

So, after installing it and charging the battery for the requisite 16 hours, do I have a working phone? No. I'm still getting the same result. It's telling me "Out of range" when it's sitting on the cradle of the base station.

*sigh*

I suppose the moral of this story is to not buy anything on the clearance rack at the local office supply store.

Is there a procedure for syncing your handset to the base? Some cordless phones do some rudimentary security to avoid having your neighbor steal your long distance, or to prevent conflicts among multiple phones in an apartment building sharing the same frequency. Sometimes the sync information gets lost if you're completely without battery for a while--say, while you're changing the battery.
