Angry Spam: Last week, I received two not-no-nice spam messages from someone claiming to be from evocash.com, an online currency site. The first one accused me of spamming them, and was quite rude about it. The second one accused me of sending them a virus. "If this is a legitimate company", I thought, "why are they restorting to vulgar messages?" So I checked the Evocash website, and lo and behold, found a warning that they were the target of a group of people called iCafe, which recently had their accounts terminated by Evocash for misrepresentation and fraud. In a spiteful retaliatory strike, they're forging the message headers to dupe unsuspecting people, and getting them riled enough so they'd complain to Evocash.
Read Evocash's warnings about the iCafe gang. I sent copies of my messages, complete with all headings, to Evocash so that they have evidence of what was sent, along with the sites it went through, in an effort to track down these maggots and bring them to justice.

Hazing: I also found out that some of the members of one of the chapters of my college fraternity are being investigated for a hazing incident that allegedly happened a few months ago. I don't know the details, and probably won't until the investigation is over. In the meantime, the chapter has been suspended by the university, and I'm sure the national HQ will also clamp down as well. The fact that there were allegations of hazing were enough to attract the attention of the local news media. Do I condone hazing? Absolutely not! It's stupid, it's harmful or fatal, and it should have gone out with the slide rule and 8-track tapes. But some people still think it's a good idea to mess with people physically and/or psychologically. Even though our particular fraternity was the first to forbid the practice, waaay back in 1929.

moveon.org: This grassroots organization initially got its start through an online petition to the UN to not go to war against Iraq. It has since devolved into a political action committee for the Democratic Party. In the past few days, I've seen "call to arms" messages about Supreme Court nominations, and now they're trying to brainstorm for candidates and an agenda. As much as I detest Republicans, the solution is not to replace them with Democrats, but to kick both of these fat boys off the see-saw.

And finally, some happy news: My friends Dan and Jody had a wish come true! Their adopted son, Ethan Ryan, was born last Thursday afternoon. See the picture of the happy family!
