Bookstores in Buffalo.....

Back when I lived in Buffalo, I wasn't as much as a bibliophile as I am now. I mostly frequented the comic book stores: Queen City Book Store and Fantasy World. There were no chain bookstores in town. Apparently personal libraries were for the wealthy or well-to-do at the time.
Here are the stores I remember.
Ulbrich's (University Plaza, Delaware/Sheridan Plaza) was a local chain of office supply and book stores. I bought my AD&D manuals and copies of The Lord of the Rings trilogy from them.
Buffalo Book Store (Century Mall) specialized in used and out-of-print books. I loved spending hours there just browsing.
Laco Bookstore (Main St.) was the place I bought by AP Physics textbook. They specialized in books for the UB Medical School.
The Village Green (Niagara Falls Blvd.) was a local attempt at a large bookstore. I liked shopping there. I don't know if it's still around, though.
Talking Leaves Books (Main St.) was a store I don't remember setting foot in at the time I was in town. It just seemed too "out there" for me.
Outland (University Plaza) was an SF/fantasy bookstore. I bought some things there. A friend of mine had a bad experience there, and I didn't go back after that.
Now, if I went back, I think I'd find a Borders, a Barnes & Noble (or two), and a few of these standalone stores remaining. (Can someone who's still in Buffalo update me?)

Date: 2007-08-06 06:55 pm (UTC)Buffalo is a dying market, I'm sorry to say. Many of the manufacturing jobs are gone or going away. I couldn't get a job in Buffalo or Rochester after I graduated from UB. That's the #1 reason why I'm in Dayton. Even so, the jobs are becoming more scarce here.
I also forgot about Old Editions Book Store (Main St.);

I just did a fast peek at an online phone book. Oracle Junction apparently still exists.
