A return visit to the Three Sisters.....
Oct. 22nd, 2007 02:09 pmOn Saturday afternoon, I felt that I needed to spend some time walking in the woods, and so I ended up at Sugarcreek Reserve, outside of Bellbrook, OH. I took the orange walking trail, which is approximately 1.3 miles in length. Halfway down the length of the trail is a section with three very old (500+ years old) oak trees. Due to their proximity -- their branches tough -- they've been nicknamed the Three Sisters.
Sadly, the middle sister has not borne any leaves this year, but her trunk is still kept intact for the benefit of the local wildlife that may still live there.
Since my last visit, a Boy Scout Eagle service project created a trail to approach one of the trees to give visitors a chance to more closely examine the tree. (Why couldn't my Eagle project been as lasting or as beneficial to the community?)
The walk left me rejuvenated and relaxed. I should do this more often.
