Feeling like I lost something.....

I'm awake. And thinking about the dozen CDs I think were stolen from my car. I still have the jewel cases for them.

I'm still kicking myself for leaving them in the car, in plain sight. I could have locked them away, or taken them with me.

I suppose that's what I get for trusting the Universe.

And a part of me is saying, "Let it go. They're replaceable. After all, it's only stuff. Other people have lost more than you, and are making a go of it."

Bug the living daylights out of the dealership until the CD's turn up. Drop by after work - and if they tell you they'll call you when the CD's turn up, cheerfully inform them that you'll call them tomorrow. :oD If you want to, you can take this to the national headquarters - and tell them that's your next phone call and the one after that will be to the Better Business Bureau. They might be CD's but this is still theft on their watch. Theft is a personal violation no matter how trivial.

I don't think the dealership is wholly to blame. They may have inadvertantly left the car unlocked during the three days my car was on their property, even though I asked them to lock it. And during that time, someone not connected with the dealership may have come by the car, seen the CDs, and took them.

Unless the dealership has a "not responsible for lost or stolen property" clause, you can still take them to task as the car WAS in their care.

They probably do. And it's probably not worth telling the insurance company. This has been an expensive lesson.

Of course, it's your choice. Can you live with not doing a follow-up with the dealership and/or the insurance company? You won't know for sure whether the dealership has that clause and you won't know for sure if the insurance company can do anything about it if you don't ask.

Right there with ya, luv...I had my laptop, a bunch of expensive medications and assorted other things stolen the other day in a backpack I accidentally left in the parking lot outside my apt. bldg. and drove off. Hugs and condolences.
