Am spending Easter weekend -- and a few extra days -- in Buffalo, visiting my mom. She's doing OK. It's a good thing I'm here this week. D from Assisting Angels Senior Care has a cold and isn't able to come over for the time being. So I'm being the "good son" and being a companion and chauffeur to her.

I intentionally left the laptop at home. I'm using the Amherst Library's computers to stay caught up on my email and job postings.

To recap the trip so far:
Fri 4/10: Drove to Indy. Took a Greyhound bus to Chicago. Spent a few hours in Chicago's Union Station. Had a hot dog, Chicago style. Got hit up by a couple of people looking for money. I gave $1 to one and bought dinner for the other. Had a wonderful train ride from Chicago to Buffalo. Didn't get much sleep on the train, though. But that's OK. (Note to self: Post an entry about Amtrak and America's lack of passenger rail service, despite the vast rail infrastructure we still have.)

Sat 4/11: Got picked up by friends Liz and Louis. Went to Anderson's for their beef on weck. Went shopping with Mom. Had dinner with Liz & Louis at one of their favorite karaoke hangouts: the Dome Stadium in Tonawanda. Even did some karaoke -- ELP's "Lucky Man" was my tune.

Sun 4/12: Had Easter dinner with my aunt Angie and members of her extended family. Watched the Masters with my cousins.

Mon 4/13: Skipped Dyngus Day festivities for the most part. Did laundry. Went to Ted's for a charcoal-grilled foot-long hot dog. Found out that the folks in Columbus I talked to last year don't want to talk to me this year. So I went to Alternative Brews and had a few microbrew beers to drown my sorrows. Met with Paul, the owner, who happens to be a fraternity brother of mine. Stopped at Mighty Taco for a late-night dinner.

Tue 4/14: Did more laundry. Went to John & Mary's for an assorted sub. Visited with [livejournal.com profile] kliklikitty that evening. [livejournal.com profile] dagonell stopped by after work.
