I know I can't afford to do this, but one of the things I'd like to do if I had the money would be to rent a recreational vehicle and go somewhere for a week. Maybe to a KOA kampground, Thousand Trails (if I knew someone with a membership), or a local state park.

The idea just sounds intriguing to me. Most of my camping has been tent camping, and a few week-long canoe trips in Ontario. It would be nice to have the comforts of home out in the wilderness.

For some folks, RV'ing is camping. They've never tent camped -- too primitive for them.

Whereas for me, if I were going to go with an RV, I'd just as soon go to Motel 6.

Camping IS tent camping!

My mom owns a pop-up tent camper, which I use occasionally to go camping. I like it as kind of a mix between tent and RV camping. It has a floor, and decent beds, plus electricity. But, it has no toilet or shower, the AC will only cool it down a little bit, and it is a lot of work to put it up and pack it down.
Now days, if I'm going to go camping, I take the pop-up. Nylon tents just get too hot, and my knees and back don't tolerate sleeping on the ground any more. I have taken the Pop-up to Pennsic, but out on the Sarengheti, it got REALLY hot. Next time I go to Pennsic, I'm saving up for a canvas pavillion.
