Name that tune......
Mar. 4th, 2004 09:28 pmEvery so often, one of the local classic-rock stations (Cincinnati's WOFX, aka "The Fox") will play a talking-blues song in the key of C. It sounds like the Charlie Daniels Band, but I've never heard the name of the song or artist mentioned.
The story is quite entertaining, and some of the lines are quite memorable, like "give me change for a one", "kicked old green-teeth in the knee", "he's an undercover agent for the FBI", and the final line: "if I went to LA....via Omaha". There aren't that many talking-blues songs these days, at least on the radio. The last few I remember were Jim Stafford's "Wildwood Weed", Larry Groce's "Junk Food Junkie", and the Charlie Daniels Band's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia".
A Google search on the final line confirmed that it was indeed the Charlie Daniels Band who performed it. The song? "Uneasy Rider". Here the lyrics to "Uneasy Rider".
