Name that tune......
Sep. 9th, 2004 05:19 pmHave you ever heard a song that you didn't know the title or artist, but there was a catchy phrase or riff that made you want to find more about the song? And every time you hear the song, the same riff catches you? It happens to me all the time.
Here ar three that wrack my brain. Usually I hear them as background music. Can someone help me identify them?
Song 1) I heard it while waiting for my car's oil change yesterday afternoon. I've heard the song before several times, and each time, I don't hear the artist or song title. It's a slow ballad, in Bb major, sung by a male voice. The chorus started and ended with the words "I need a love". The chorus (and song) sounds like it ends in a Gb/Ab/Bb chord progression, and has a late-60s-Beatles sound to it. A Google search showed songs by Ocean Colour Scene, N'Sync, Aerosmith, Alan Jackson, and Voyage. But the lyrics and the guitar tablature didn't show anything that matched what I heard.
Song 2) This song has Beach-Boys like vocals -- I don't remember any of the words -- and a trumpet fanfare at the end. The song is in F major. The fanfare is A-A-A-Bb-C.....F-F-F-G-A..... in a (quarter-rest)-eighth-eighth-quarter-quarter-whole pattern.
Song 3) This song is very 80s. The chorus has the word "Rain" sung alternatively in the left and right speakers. I think it had the phrase "Rain down on me". (No, it's not by the Who.) And then after the chorus is a marimba/xylophone riff that goes A-C-E-G, A-C-E-G, A-C-E-G-A-G. I thought it was by Haircut One Hundred, but I'm not sure. I last heard it waiting for my pizza at Pizzeria Uno.
