This weekend's pleasure driving......
Aug. 8th, 2002 01:09 amSaturday night, we went out for ice cream. Rebecca was craving some ice cream called "Denali", which they were serving at the local Hardee's. The ice cream was Hershey Ice Cream's "Denali Moose Tracks" flavor. (No, the brand has nothing to do with the chocolate of the same name.) While the name "Moose Tracks" is unappetizing to me -- it evokes an image of something else the moose left behind -- it looked like it had some yummy stuff in it.
Then we went for a little drive. (Those of you with your maps of southwest Ohio are welcome to follow along and retrace our route.) We started near the Dayton Mall, at the corner of state routes 741 and 725. We went south on route 741 to Red Lion (home of the 5-way intersection), where we took route 123 east through Lebanon (with a few detours and missed turns due to construction), through Morrow, to Blanchester, where we picked up route 28 north, to US 68 north to Wilmington, where we picked up route 73 west, and then through Waynesville to route 48 north to home. It was still a little muggy, but with the windows down and us going about 50 mph, it felt a little cooler.

hi
Date: 2002-08-07 10:32 pm (UTC)I am starting to get it now.... jeez i even started my mirror above in my comment. I was thinking that since you are a bro you would be really open, and the mirror for me is that i am not as open as I would like to be cuz of the fear of what ppl may think of me. so thanks for just being you. you helped me without doing anything, that's the beauty of this work, that if you think/feel about it long enough you get to know what it looks like.

Date: 2002-08-08 06:57 pm (UTC)One of my favorite quotes is by Anthony Rapp. "There is only one you for all time. Fearlessly be yourself!" I wish I'd heard the quote years ago, when I was still in high school.
I rarely go into personal topics in LJ. First, I don't view this as a dumping ground. If I have a beef with someone, it may be easier to vent about it here, but that's how I used to do things before NWTA, and I now see how backhanded that can be, especially if the ventee isn't on LJ as well. Second, I don't think people are that interested in the minutia of my personal life. I still can hear some of the folks in high school tell me "ask me if I care" after I've told them something I thought was wonderful. Third, there are cyberstalkers out there, and I'd prefer that they not know so much about me so that they would leave me alone.
I'll drop you a line soon with more of the details

Date: 2002-08-08 06:41 pm (UTC)Yeah, what was the big brand of ice cream in western New York? I think it was Perry's. I believe the plant is in Akron or Alden or someplace.
These are the times I miss my old stomping grounds.
