I heard the news today, oh boy. I was stunned. Kery conceded the election before the provisional ballots in Ohio were counted? In-concede-able!

I believe that Kerry should NOT have conceded until all the provisional ballots in Ohio were counted, despite what Blackwell stated. And we had plenty of 'em here. Update: To quote from news sources, "Kerry also said that 'there won't be enough outstanding votes for us to win Ohio, and therefore we cannot win this election.'"

I think it was the Republicans who were urging him to "Concede already!" And if Kerry truly had a spine of steel (as a strong leader should), he would not have done so. Talk about the ultimate flip-flop or cave-in. If it were the other way around, would GWB have conceded so soon? Hell no! He would have fought it tooth and nail, and dragged it out until Christmas.

Did anyone else notice that during the debates and during the campaign, GWB always referred to Kerry as "my opponent" and never by name?

As I responded to [livejournal.com profile] autographedcat in a comment to an excellent post of his, I said, "Our darkest hour; our finest hour. Now it is that time for us. Our darkest hour because of our country's so-called leadership. Our finest hour because of the people who will stay and perservere and stick to the ideal we know and love as America." We'll have to dig deep into our own resolve and try to take back this country, even if it takes "Four More Years"...our 40 more years... to do so.

And it could have been worse. At least Michael Peroutka of the Constitution Party didn't get elected.

Anyway, that's enough about the '04 election. Time to pick up the pieces and move on. And drown my sorrows in a pitcher of "Bad Juan" margaritas at Elsa's.
