First off, my personal website is called "The Line Of Death Bar & Grill". It came from a song Mark Russell did in '86 on one of his PBS specials, which related to the war in Libya. The motif is a virtual tavern; an amalgamation of some of my favorite bars and taverns I've frequented over the years. (With a bit of Spider Robinson's Callahan's Crosstime Saloon thrown in for fun.)
One of these days....or months...I'll revise the personal web pages to showcase the different areas inside the tavern: the performers' stage, the trophy case, the TV area, the game room (pool tables, dartboards, video games, Chexx table hockey, and pinball), the jukebox, the graffiti fridge, and last but not least, the bar itself. (That's me, behind the bar, serving up the drinks and the food.)
My journal is called "The Daily Doings at the Line of Death Bar & Grill". I like alliteration. Even if I don't post daily.
My subtitle is "A Virtual Tavern", because that's what this place is.
My friends page is "The Regular Crowd at the Line of Death Bar & Grill". Nearly all bars have their regular patrons.
My username is "poltr1", which is a rendering of my last name. I've used it for years, most notably as "ugpoltr1" when I was an undergrad at SUNY/Buffalo.
My default userpic is a picture of me c. 1997-98. It was part of a series of test shots I made with a web camera attached to an SGI O2 workstation. One of my clients wanted me to experiment with VTC (video tele-conferencing) using these workstations. Unfortunately, we lacked the bandwidth at the time for high-quality conversations.
