I don't know if Christine Lavin has done -- or will ever write -- a 9/11 song. But I was thinking about "The Dakota" today, which covered a different, more personal tragedy. And so, with songwriting pen in hand.....

Every time I see the Twin Towers
I think about that day
Planes went down, the buildings fell
Three thousand died, they say

Well, it's something we shouldn't dwell upon,
But it's something we shouldn't forget.
Too many good folks have been cut down,
Let's pray this won't happen again.

Okay, it doesn't exactly rhyme. But after all the news coverage and retrospectives, I'm starting to get depressed. After 9/11/01, I was in a deep blue funk for two weeks. I don't remember much from that time, but I remember going to work and coming home.

The rescue workers are still dealing with the health issues they incurred that day, and the days after. Respiratory problems, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). It's saddening and angering that they're not getting the full medical coverage they deserve.

Screw the news. I'm gonna watch some Spongebob instead.

I like your song, maybe if another stanza is ever written it can finish your ryme. I agree that there is way to much coverage and constant replays of that terrible day. I myself remained in a deep blue funk after 9-11-01 for at least a month. I remember very little of that time.

Shaun was lucky because he had couple of genuine chances at work to properly vent his anger and frustration at well deserving selfish people who cared more about their own petty desires than being patient while NYC was made safe for travel again.

Myself I watched Food network and anything else that was not 9-11. As long as the cable remained on. We turned off the Cable TV service because we are both moving, and monday was the cut off day. No real hardship I love reading and have lots of books and a great public library.
