It's that time of year again....

....the time the companies roll out their holiday commercials. You've seen them -- the Lexus in the driveway with a big bow on top, the one where the yellow and red M&Ms meet Santa, etc.
Are there any favorite commercials? Are there any ones you hate?
On the hate list: There's one depicting a party. Someone trips over a power cord and the lights go off. Then the sprinklers go off. And a couple hides under a piano. I don't even know what the ad is for. I hate that one even more than the incessant car and jewelry commercials.
On the like list: The ones for Texas Pete hot sauce, waking up people dressed up as food, and the guy in the bottle sounding like a drill sergeant.
I miss Santa zipping around in the snow on his Noelco (sic) razor. That was a classic.

Date: 2007-12-14 07:47 pm (UTC)Have to think about the "like" ads. There is a cute one online at the Apple page, but I can't think of a tv ad off the top of my head.

Date: 2007-12-15 12:16 am (UTC)Like a woman rapturously videotaping her handbag Christmas morning and telling her husband who is holding their child to get out of the shot.
One more in the line of "Stupid People Use Our Product" commercials that make me want to avoid the product or service or store or whatever like the plague.

Date: 2007-12-15 07:46 am (UTC)Someone else on my flist called the new polar bear ad "the happy meal ad", the baby polar bear slides down the hill and gets a Coke and a happy meal (penguin). I haven't been able to look at that ad the same way since. :D

Loathed are all car and jewelery commercials that tell us that only by over spending can we show that we actually love someone.
