Well, the simple answer is "I started dating kitanzi.

In truth, I realized in retrospect that I'd always been inclined towards it, but I never had a context by which such a thing was possible. When I started to meet polyfolk like telynor and tigerbright, I looked at it somewhat wistfully but said it wouldn't work for me (and it *wouldn't* have with my partner at the time.) When that partner and I split up, and I got involved with Kit, I was finally free to explore the idea to it's fullest potential.

Whoops, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I found filk at my very 1st con in July, 1977. There happened to be a filk concert going on when I walked into the main programming ballroom. It included TJ Burnside, Roberta Rogow, and a few other folks who are no longer active. This was a Trek con with not late-night programming, but one of the now-former filkers called my hotel room to invite me to a room filk later that evening, and the rest is history.
