OVFF 20.....
Nov. 1st, 2004 11:14 am(I should be working on the assignment for the career counselor, but this is more enjoyable.)
(Edited to add other filker LJ names.)
Had a great time at the con! I miss you guys already! :-(

Friends of my LJ-friends who were there, but I don't curently know them well enough to LJ-friend them or I have no solid association between them and their LJ names:
catalana,
batyatoon,
ladymondegreen,
tigertoy,
shannachie,
tnatj,
peteralway,
eiblyn,
bedlamhouse,
ladyat,
andpuff,
it_aint_easy,
artbeco. If I didn't list you, my apologies; I either don't know you have an LJ or can't remember your LJ name. Or I forgot you were there.
With all the LJ users, perhaps we should get a roll of stickers of something from LJ HQ.
Fond memories:
Into-the-night conversations. Some included backrubs and footrubs. (Look! Toe socks!)
Con suite chats with zencuppa and kyttn.
Saturday morning breakfast with fuzzyvanman and rms_butterfly. (The hotel's breakfast buffet *rocks*!)
Presenting UT with a box of Esther Price chocolates.
Getting a picture with the box, ohiblather and Cora.
Miming a digeridoo with one of the tuned plastic tubes...and watching The Girl do the same.
The Saturday afternoon pool break.
cadhla's Improvisation Workshop. (Silly me, I thought it was *musical* improvisation, but I had fun despite the pulled calf muscle. Haven't done this sort of thing since acting class in college.)
The Ookla the Mok concert. (With the original lineup!)
The Interfilk auction. (Always a treat to watch.)
Lots of fresh and yummy fruit in the con suite. (Kept my Vitamin C level up.)
The chicken soup that nearly turned into a casserole in the crockpot. (Yeah, that was my recipe. Too many egg noodles.)
Seeing 5 filk circles going on Saturday night -- the main room, around the piano, the Metro room, the Theme Filk room, and the "Navigational Hazard" circle.
Seeing bids on the things I contributed for the Interfilk auction. (Aside to sdavido: Enjoy the Mark Dwane CDs! I hope you relish them as much as I [do]!)
Hearing autographedcat and kitanzi tell me more about GAFilk and that it's not as performance-oriented or competition-oriented as OVFF. (I'm an ensemble player. As the button on my neckstrap says, "Plays well with others".)
The UT/Ookla kids' concert.
The Graeter's run with maedbh7, The Wife, and The Girl.
Not-so-fond memories:
Arriving at 10:30pm Friday and stressed, worried that I'd miss the Pegasus Awards voting deadline. Even saying that getting my vote in was more important than changing The Girl's diaper. (Much consternation from The Wife.)
Missing the recording workshop since I was on Daddy duty.
Forgetting a can opener and having to borrow one.
Seeing one of the songwriting contest alternates trying to finagle their way into one of the 12 available slots.
Seeing a con attendee drop his camera lens, and not being close enough to break its fall.
Waiting over a half hour for take-out at Romano's Macaroni Grill....and hearing a loud and vocal OSU fan in the bar while the MSU/U of M game was on.
Being stuck in my room watching The Girl watching her Baby Einstein DVDs. (We do enough of this at home. I go to cons to see people and do stuff with them! Should have brought these down to the kids' area and shared them.)
Being within earshot of the yammering man. (Nope, I looked on his button vest and didn't see one marked "OFF".)
Having to leave so quickly on Sunday afternoon (2pm) because The Girl was nodding off in the car and The Wife wanted to get home to do laundry.
Not spending a lot of time chatting with youze guys! :-( I saw many of my LJ-friends and non-LJ-friends en passant and didn't have a few minutes with each of you to chat.

Date: 2004-11-01 09:06 pm (UTC)Saw your name as the high bidder on the Mark Dwane CDs. Hope you enjoy them! (I should mention that all the sounds, except for percussion, was done on a MIDI guitar.)

I really should put together a "Taste of Dayton" package for an upcoming Interfilk auction.

Date: 2004-11-03 05:38 am (UTC)I'm also keenly aware that I want -- and need -- to make a conscious and ongoing effort to solidify my relationships with other filkers. I have more then enough acquaintances, and not enough people I can call friends.
